Princeton & District Hospice Palliative Care Society holds AGM

May 3rd to 9th is National Hospice Palliative Care Week in Canada. Organized by the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association, their hope is that Canadians will become more aware of the need to provide access to quality hospice palliative care across the country.

The Princeton & District Hospice Palliative Care Society provides this important service to our community. On March 31st, they held their first Annual General Meeting since registering as a “not for profit” society. June Hope presented the President’s report and Trisha Akerley, the financial report. The following Officers and Directors were elected for the year 2015-16:

Chair – June Hope (until June 2015)
Vice Chair – John Akerley
Secretary – Carol Clarke
Treasurer – Trisha Akerley
Directors – Agnes Newman, Lynn Boyd, Susan Hamilton

The Society discussed final upgrading of the Hospice rooms at Princeton General Hospital and identified two priorities for the coming year; palliative care training for present and future volunteers and creating more awareness for the Society.
