Support Our Health Care (SOHC) held its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, October 23 at Riverside Community Centre. The meeting was chaired by President Spencer Coyne. Printed copies of the agenda, minutes of the last AGM, and the Year in Review were distributed to members present and all were adopted. A financial report was presented by the President and was approved by the membership. The election of new officers was carried out by Don McIntosh. The new Board of Directors for the 2013-14 fiscal year are as follows:

President – Ed Staples
Vice President – Spencer Coyne
Secretary – Nienke Klaver
Treasurer – June Hope
Director – Judy Short
Director – Ole Juul

Following the formal part of the meeting, President Ed Staples outlined the four priorities that SOHC will be working on in the coming year. The first is continued membership in the Princeton Health Care Steering Committee and the implementation of the Health Care Action Framework. Secondly, the research project on chronic illness and end of life care in Princeton conducted by Dr. Barb Pesut and her team of researchers from UBC. Thirdly, involvement in the campaign to inform citizens about the threat to Public Health Care as a result of a challenge to the Canada Health Act by Dr. Brian Day and the Cambie Clinic in Vancouver. And finally, working with provincial and federal organizations to get the federal government to negotiate a new Canada Health Accord with the provinces.
